La Ola
Nach intensiver Auseinandersetzung mit der Architektur des Gebäudes und dessen Architekten Mathias Goeritz habe ich das Konzept einer sich vom Innenraum über den Hof in den Außen- bzw. öffentlichen Raum streckenden begehbaren Holzwelle entworfen. Die Installation durchdringt das gesamte Gebäude und ist als symbolische Öffnung des Ausstellungshauses zur Straße, aber auch als architektonische Achse zum angrenzenden Park zu verstehen.
Die Intention der Raumintervention besteht in der Formulierung einer Antithese zur vorhandenen Bausubstanz im Sinne eines dekonstruktivistischen Eingriffs in die existierende, streng geometrisch-lineare Ordnung. Die begehbare Holzwelle löst das Gebäude aus seiner hehren Statuarik heraus, vollzieht eine Neuordnung des Raumes und lässt gleichzeitig Architektur nicht nur als funktionales Raumkonstrukt verstehen, sondern im Besonderen auch als begehbare Skulptur.
La Ola (Die Welle) steht als Symbol für Bewegung und Aktion und verweist auf das Konzept vom Raum als eine lebendige Einheit, als ein offenes, dynamisches Feld, in dem Dinge fließen, sich ereignen und Architektur nicht die Funktion eines statischen Repräsentationsobjektes übernimmt.
La Ola
After an intensive engagement with the architecture of the building and its architect Mathias Goeritz, I have designed the concept of a walkable wooden wave that extends from the interior through the courtyard into the outdoor or public space. The installation permeates the entire building and serves as a symbolic opening of the exhibition house to the street, as well as an architectural axis to the adjacent park.
The intention of the spatial intervention lies in formulating a thesis that stands in contrast to the existing structure, in the sense of a deconstructivist intervention in the existing, strictly geometric-linear order. The walkable wooden wave liberates the building from its lofty statuary, reordering the space while simultaneously allowing architecture to be understood not only as a functional spatial construct but particularly as a walkable sculpture.
La Ola (The Wave) symbolizes movement and action, referencing the concept of space as a living entity, as an open, dynamic field in which things flow, events occur, and architecture does not assume the function of a static representation object.
